Of all the songs in the Primary songbook, the song "My Heavenly Father Loves Me" (CS p.228) is my all time favorite. I remember the first time I heard it. When I was very young, I remember my Grandma Hadlock signing it for me as we were walking to the park for a picnic. I loved how it talked about the birds, flowers and trees and being grateful for all that I had. That memory has always been a very special one for me. I don't think I realized until I was older the true meaning of the song until I was much older and especially now that I have children of my own. All the beautiful things of this world are gifts from a Heavenly Father who loves us. I think that recognizing all the small simple things to be grateful for can be challenging but this song always helps to remind me.
You can imagine my delight when I realized that this song is part of the Primary Program - 2013. We are learning it this month so in my preparation I am looking for different ways to introduce the song to my Primary kiddos. I came across this beautiful rendition of the song where a young blind boy is playing this song on the piano. I was so touched that I wanted to share. I am not sure if this is the way that I am going to introduce the song but nevertheless I wanted to share it. Enjoy!
