Congratulations Softball Champs!!

The winners with the Championship trophy
One of the things that Brian has enjoyed for many years is playing softball.  He played before his mission, during his mission and ever since we have been married, he has played ball for one team or another.  The team that he currently plays on is the Extra Baggers.  This team has been together for about 10 years now and although people have come and gone, there are many team members from the original team: Kyle, Rusty, Casey, Jim, Mike, Josh and Brian.

The team use to play on the City of Mesa league but for about the last 2 years have been playing at the Big League Dreams (BLD) fields.  The biggest advantage to these fields are the fields themselves.  All our replicas of real baseball fields such as Wrigley field, Chase field and so on.  At the end of a season, they have a championship game.  Last season, they were in the finals and although they didn't think they would go very far, they ended up winning it all.  It was crazy how it all played out - forfeit from their opponent in the 2nd to the last game leaving them in the final championship game, behind for 8 innings and then rallying to bring it all home in the last inning.  Totally great game and so much fun to watch.  The boys and their friends were there to cheer on Brian and the team which made it even more fun and special.

We are off this weekend (Memorial Day) for our annual Showlow trip for softball tournaments.  This too has been a tradition in our family that we all look forward to for the past 10 years.  Wish them luck!

Stake President's Award Ceremony - 2011

These can not be my little boys - can they?
This year both Hunter and Hayden earned the Stake President's Honor Award.  This was Hunter's 2nd year and Hayden's first.  What an accomplishment!  To earn this is no small feat.  They had to memorize all of the scripture mastery, read and pray for 4 consecutive months, give 3 devotionals each quarter, give 2 lessons - 1 each semester and be able to name at least 10 of the modern day prophets.  As our stake presidents, Pres. Riggs, was telling the audience what the students have to do to earn this award, he stopped and said to the congregation "How many of us can say we can do the same?"  The boys' example of obedience and diligence is humbling to me and make me very proud to be their mom.  I heard someone say that their good children's example makes them look like great parents and that is very true.  I am very proud of them.

At the end of the ceremony, the Stake President invited all of the youth 12 - 18 to stand and sing the "EFY Medley".  If you have not heard this before, click on the link and listen to a rendition of it that I found on YouTube.  It is absolutely gorgeous.  When the stake president invited the youth, our three handsome sons stood up between Brian and I and sang with the rest of the youth of our stake about their noble birthright and being children of a loving Heavenly Father.  To say that the sight took my breath away would be an understatement.  What an awesome sight that I was so honored to be a part of!

My Birthday Wish

My birthday is around the corner and I am stealing this idea from my cute sister-in-law, Kimberly. Everyone tells me that I am really hard to shop for so I am giving them a leg-up and going to post what I am wishing for.  Allyson found this bag on Etsy for my new hobby, my camera and I love it.  I have several lens now and so much other stuff now and wanted something stylish to carry them in !

I love that it looks like a purse!

Look at all those compartments
