| These can not be my little boys - can they? |
This year both Hunter and Hayden earned the Stake President's Honor Award. This was Hunter's 2nd year and Hayden's first. What an accomplishment! To earn this is no small feat. They had to memorize all of the scripture mastery, read and pray for 4 consecutive months, give 3 devotionals each quarter, give 2 lessons - 1 each semester and be able to name at least 10 of the modern day prophets. As our stake presidents, Pres. Riggs, was telling the audience what the students have to do to earn this award, he stopped and said to the congregation "How many of us can say we can do the same?" The boys' example of obedience and diligence is humbling to me and make me very proud to be their mom. I heard someone say that their good children's example makes them look like great parents and that is very true. I am very proud of them.
At the end of the ceremony, the Stake President invited all of the youth 12 - 18 to stand and sing the
"EFY Medley". If you have not heard this before, click on the link and listen to a rendition of it that I found on YouTube. It is absolutely gorgeous. When the stake president invited the youth, our three handsome sons stood up between Brian and I and sang with the rest of the youth of our stake about their noble birthright and being children of a loving Heavenly Father. To say that the sight took my breath away would be an understatement. What an awesome sight that I was so honored to be a part of!
