Living Room and Dining Room Floors - Take 1...and 2

After living in our house about year and a half, we started to notice that Meg was using our LR as her “potty”.  We had it cleaned several times but to no avail.  So the carpet had to go and be replaced by tile.  We found a place that carried our same tile that was everywhere else but because it had been over two years, the dye lot was different and it was textured.  We also got the wrong color grout so it didn’t match at all.  So after all the work of putting it down and grouting it all, Brian decided it had to come back up and start again with something different…  Therefore LR/DR tile - Take 2!

Before
After but not happy

Of all the projects we have done, this is the first one that didn’t turn out exactly as we wanted it to.  So instead of just living with it, Brian and the boys decided to jack-hammer up the old tile in preparation to start again.  It was four easy steps... after thoroughly taping off our living room/ dining room with plastic, he jack-hammered out the old tile, the boys scooped it, they all hauled it outside and in the end had a floor as if nothing had ever happened.  Except they were exhausted and starting over…

What a mess!

New Floors
We love the new floors.  They are absolutely beautiful.  I love that we all pitched in and did them together  Onto the next project...

I love these crazies and so blessed to call them mine!

Valentines Day 2016

Hunter Turns 22!

Happy Birthday to Hunter-Boy!
Since Hunter entered our lives 22-years ago, he filled it with joy, happiness and love.  Hunter made me a mom and Brian and dad ~ made us a family.
We celebrated his birthday with his family and friends at his favorite restaurant – Fuddruckers.
We LOVE you Hunter!

Disneyland - Here We Come!

This Disney trip was so much fun and proved to be monumental with the addition of Lexi to the Disney party and joining the Disney Vacation Club.  Also, Will and Marci Thomas joined us for the a couple of days which just made the trip a blast!

2016!!

What a tremendous year 2015 was!

Super high highs and some pretty low lows ~ but through it all one thing remained the same… our love for one another and the gratitude to be a family.  We learned a lot about repentance, patience and focusing on things that truly matter so for our theme this year we thought “Try a little harder to be a little better” was very fitting.  Remembering to love without limits and live without regrets - Here’s to a happy 2016!

New Year's Eve 2015

Goodbye 2015 ~ Hello 2016!

This year was full of challenges and obstacles but also full of joys and happiness.  We have learned so much as a family and drawn closer together.
We are excited to see what 2016 brings ~

Merry Christmas 2015

The excitement of Christmas morning never gets old for me.  The first time in 2 years, the boys were able to be together Christmas morning.  They lined up middle to oldest, ran down like little ones.  Santa had come with lots of gifts and they were just as excited today as they were where ten years ago.  Love these boys!

Christmas Bash 2015

One of the get-togethers we look forward to all year long is the Family Christmas Bash.  We all get together for a night filled with food, singing, gift-giving and the nativity reenactment.  We love being close to our family and getting to make these memories together and look forward to many more to come.

Each of our family tradition develops over time, becoming more meaningful.  One of the traditions that we started last year is a family talent show for the “littles” to showcase their talents and what they have been practicing.  Nothing was more fun than watching Cody shake his booty to “jingle Bell Rock” or watching Ty and Annabelle play Christmas songs from memory.  I love family traditions and I love the ones that we continue year after year~

One of the best traditions that usually has the most impact is the family nativity scene.  One of the older kids read and all the other grandkids participate as characters at that blessed event.  Some of them get into more than others and the little girls always fight to be Mary.  But in the end, each one of them reenact their part with reverence and love for the birth of our Savior~

One of the traditions that we started last year was that the grand kids do a Secret Santa for each other.  They draw names at Thanksgiving dinner and then secretly buy for the person they draw.  Then, we go youngest to oldest and the Secret Santa reveals who they are and then presents the gift.  The kids love it and have a ball with the gift exchange.

One of the longest lasting traditions from my Grampy to our boys’ Grampy is the tradition of the “gunny sack”.  The kids look forward to it the most.  Grammy and Grampy spend all year long looking for things that are just right for each adult and kiddo alike.  They place in the “gunny sack” and carry it in like Santa.  Grampy chooses 3 little elves to help and everyone loves to see what everyone got.  It can be a little chaotic but it is the most fun of the night!
