One of our favorite Halloween traditions is carving pumpkins. The boys still love to get a knife in their hand, get messy with the pumpkin "guts", carve up their pumpkin and then play with fire instead of lighting the candles. What more could a boy ask for? This year Hunter and Hayden free-handed their designs and Bryson chose a pattern on one that has a tongue so that was really fun to try and accomplish. Grammy and Grampy brought us another HUGE pumpkin from their garden and Brian was in charge of that one. He did an awesome job of carving out a Frankenstein and it looks so cool- especially lit. The end results are below – Enjoy!
Peyton Kylee's Blessing
Peyton's blessing was October 10, 2010 and what a beautiful day it was. Kyle and Allyson had almost all of their family there to help them celebrate this milestone in Peyton's life. Peyton wore the same dress as Chloe but Grammy had to modify the sleeves because Peyton is such a peanut compared to her big sister. Peyton's dad, Kyle, Grampy, most of her uncles and "Uncle Rusty" along with Bishop Schnepf and Bro. Thomas participated in the circle. Kyle's blessing was very beautiful and I don't think there was a dry eye in our family rows. Good thing Aunt Tamara brought lots of Kleenex. Grampy bore his testimony during testimony meeting and again, the water works began. Grampy was followed by Allyson. Allyson's testimony got everyone crying again and at that point I am thinking "I should have worn waterproof mascara" but all kidding aside, this day was long coming and many prayers, fasts and priesthood blessings got Mommy Allyson and Baby Peyton here healthy and happy. All of us are so grateful for this beautiful addition to Kyle, Allyson and Chloe's family. It is hard to remember her not being here with us. She is already so loved and we are very grateful for tender mercies from our Heavenly Father.
ONLY 23 MORE DAYS UNTIL HALLOWEEN!
I absolutely love Halloween and the older I get the more I love it.
(...that should tell you how much I love it since I am soooo old)
I think that the reason that I love Halloween so much is because I know it is the beginning of the holiday season and I love all the pomp and circumstance that surrounds the holiday season.
Or maybe I love it because I know that the days of the temperature being above 110 degrees are behind us - at least for 7 months.
Either way - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
