Hayden Turns 16!!

It is unbelievable to think that our son is turning 16 today!  It seems like just yesterday that he was standing in front of me singing “Bonnie the Beautiful Butterfly” and so proud that he knew all the words and actions.  (Thank goodness I have it on video – so cute!)  Where has the time gone – just a blink of an eye!  How is it possible that this little boy has turned into such a tall, handsome, responsible, reserved young man?  I could talk about Hayden all day long because he is one of my favorite subjects.

What a joy Hayden is in our family!  He has taken on the role of peacemaker in our home.  He has a very tender spirit and strives to do what is right.  He has an incredible testimony that not only we recognize but also other leaders and those that are around him.  Our bishop sent Brian and I a special message after interviewing Hayden a few weeks ago to let us know what a great young man he is.  He magnifies his calling and honors his priesthood.  He is excited to be a Priest especially since Hunter is still in the Priest quorum – they have never been in a quorum together but they are the best of friends so they are excited.

If you haven’t seen Hayden for a while, he is just shy of 6’0 and not done according to his pediatrician.  He stood up at the pulpit on Sunday to be ordained a Priest and our Bishop had to get on tip toes to stay taller than him.    He is always quick with a smile and he is always trying to make you laugh.
It was hard this year because I had to leave on a business trip on Hayden’s birthday but we had a great time celebrating before I left and Aunt Allyson made sure that he had a birthday cake.  His friends also threw him a surprise party that totally caught him off guard.  He thought they were running to get pizza but as he saw his friends arrive at the pizza place, he realized they were there for him.  He said to me, “Thank goodness I wore shoes…”

Hayden – your dad and I love you so much and we are so proud of you.  No matter what you do or who you are, always remember that you are loved and cherished.  We hope you had a very happy birthday!

Hunter goes to Senior Prom - 2012

Best friends Hunter, Tyler, Jacob, Keila, Jessica and Hayley all decided to go to Senior Prom.  He looked so handsome all dressed up and I couldn’t believe that he was old enough to go (I know I say that a lot but it is true…)  They had a daytime date and then the dance/dinner that night.  They all looked so great and we were glad they all had a good time.  Here are some of my favorites from the evening:

Easter "Eggs"travaganza - 2012

We had our annual Easter "Eggs"travaganza on Saturday before Easter.  All the kids dressed in their Easter duds so we could see them all dressed up.  We had 2 Easter egg hunts - one for the little kids where the big kids got to hide the eggs and then one for the older kids where the dads hid the eggs.  Only one we were missing was Hunter who was at the daytime Prom events.  Everyone went home on a fabulous sugar high!
